Requirements for the issue of short stay (Schengen) visas

Participants of the congress from countries subject to a visa requirement must contact the relevant German Mission Abroad (embassy or consulate-general) well in advance to make an appointment and inform themselves about specific local conditions that may apply: German Missions Abroad

The Missions Abroad generally take from two to ten working days to decide on applications for short-stay visas. During peak travelling periods you may need to wait longer for your application to be processed, so please be sure to submit it early.

Generally, you will have to provide the following documentation:

  • a completed visa application form (you’ll find a pdf-form on the homepage of the Federal Foreign Office
  • a passport (valid for at least three months beyond the duration of your planned stay)
  • a visa-related letter of invitation from the CIHA2012 congress in Nuremberg
  • confirmed travel arrangements, including flight and hotel reservations
  • proof of current health insurance, valid for overseas travel

Please make sure that you view the website of the relevant German Mission Abroad to find out any other requirements.

As a speaker or congress participant, you can request a letter of invitation for visa purposes after you have successfully registered for the congress. Please write to the congress bureau: info[a]ciha2012.de (reference: „letter of invitation for visa“).
